Portland was just for fun and oh my goodness did we have the best time ever. I titled this blog "Portland while pregnant" because honestly traveling while pregnant is a very different experience and for me involves a bit more intentional planning to make sure that I don't overdo it and also have a good time!

Seattle! A city I have so much love for and actually we are trying to move to (in case you missed that bit). We spent a week of our road trip in Seattle exploring, wandering, and Ben spent a bit of that time working towards being able to transfer with his job. We come to Seattle yearly so this was not our first time bringing Jessamyn but last time she was significantly smaller and less mobile, which definitely made this trip a whole new experience!

When I was little my mom always talked about driving through the Redwoods. She described it like the trees would be massive and magical and I always imagined it that way in my head. We never made it on that trip and so needless to say driving through the redwoods has always been at the top of my list of things I needed to do in life! Okay so this post is a bit late... quite a bit late but we went to Crested Butte for our four year anniversary in February and I wanted to share a bit with you. Nothin fancy just a few of the places we went and some thoughts on Crested Butte as a destination. One thing worth noting is that we did not actually ski which I know going to a mountain town in the middle of winter and not skiing is kind of crazy but I am pregnant and Jessamyn is still a bit too small for skiing so we just went and relaxed and enjoyed the snow. We actually went on our honey moon in Alaska and it was kind of romantic to go back to a mountain town for our anniversary.

Oh baby girl you are turning two and I don't even have words.... When you turned one it was easy, I had a clear purpose and direction. We threw a giant party, cake, food, all your favorite people.... I planned it out down to the minute. Two though, two snuck up on me. It came with a lot of words, mile stones, and so very many skills I can't even begin to list. And really how do you capture that essence and turn it into a party? A celebration big enough to really express all you have become in the past two years of your existence? I think the answer if I am honest is that you cannot, and we did not... so Instead it was the aquarium and then wings and fries for lunch because you basically exist off of fruit, chicken nuggets, and fries.... obviously.

Even though we couldn't actually "pick" any of the apples we did go walk around for a bit and Jessamyn really liked gathering up all the rotten ones off the ground. I know that she probably won't remember this experience but even still I hope she knows we tried and that even rotten apples can be beautiful.
