A few years ago for my husbands birthday I surprised him with a trip to Winter park! I didn't know anything about this town I mostly picked it because I found a cute airbnb to stay in and thought it would be fun to kidnap him... well now three years later we are going back with the tiny to recreate that trip!

I would definitely not classify us as advanced hikers... more gentle wanderers. Hiking for us generally involves setting out on a trail and going as far as we can and then heading back home. I remember the first time we took Jessamyn hiking... it was actually on her first camping trip. We had a really rough, cold night... She was about six months old and basically just screamed the whole night long. That morning we got up and headed out on the trail. It was the first time the whole trip she didn't scream her head off... she actually giggled and enjoyed her self.
Since then we try to go out at least once a week, obviously this doesn't always happen but when it does it is always magical. Jessamyn always has the best time, meeting all the dogs, taking in all the scenery. Ben and I always seem to have the deepest and best conversations and inevitably we stumble across something beautiful.

I took about a million photos this weekend while we were out camping so here are just a few for you all...
We went to Eleven Mile Reservoir primarily because they were one of the few places with a camp site available but also because it was suppose to be really beautiful!
We found out through the Colorado park system you can search for any open site which is such a life saver for last minute camping! There was also a lot of National Forest dispersed camping available and I think if we go back that is definitely what we will do! (You can never beat a free camping spot!)
Jessamyn did so well! We took her camping a few times last year (she struggled to sleep) but this time her biggest problem was getting a fishing hook stuck in her pants! She loved the water, all the friendly "dog dogs" around, and was beyond excited about the camp fire. I want more than anything for this to become part of her culture and just a normal part of our life to be out in nature and enjoying life "unplugged."
I don't think it would be a proper camping experience without a campfire, thunderstorm, and s'mores...
I'll do a post later this summer about camping with a tiny and our essentials. It is actually surprising how little you need to have a successful trip! We actually forgot half of the things we meant to bring and still managed to have such a lovely time. If you have any camping tips or essentials please share them in the comments below because I would love to know!
