Okay lets talk going on a cruise… for a lot of people it is maybe something they have done once for their honeymoon, or heard stories of from their parents who are retired and cruise, or have friends who work on cruse ships BUT maybe you fit none of those categories…. maybe you have kids and are wondering if it would even be enjoyable to go on a cruise OR if it would be a week of being trapped in a giant ship with your small children wishing you had just done a road trip or stayed home and sent the kids to their grandparents while you went on a date night and called it a vacation…. This post is for you!!!! We went on not one but two cruises last year for the first time with the girls and I have put together everything I learned from that experience. I honestly wasn’t sure if cruising with kids would be fun but since going am now firmly convinced that cruising may be the most relaxing way to travel especially with kids.Read More
On day 2 and 3 we ate at the Gold Lounge for breakfast which was like everything else super amazing. There is a buffet out and access to drinks and snacks all day and I would definitely recommend adding that to your trip. We ate lunch and dinner at just about all of the restaurants on the resort and every single meal was amazing. Specifically on that night we had dinner at Toro which was amazing… the dessert was this ice cream and chocolate concoction that they literally drop like a bomb on your table it was ridiculous and awesome. Oh and I should mention every single restaurant had a kids menu so there was no where on the resort we didn’t feel welcome with the girls.Read More
Okay I have to confess we have seriously overlooked Boulder Colorado. When Ben and I were dating we went and walked around a few times but never gave this city the attention it deserves! This past weekend we went and spent a few days exploring Boulder with the girls and it was so much fun! I grossly underestimated the charm of this city and now kind of consider it the Portland Oregon of Colorado. I had a few people who watched my Instagram stories while we were there ask for recommendations on what to do SO here is all the things we did and my general thoughts on them. We loved Boulder and will be back so if you have any recommendations of your own or questions about anywhere we went please, please, please comment below!Read More
If you are like me the first thing you did when you saw the title of this blog post was say, "Wait. where is Ruidoso, New Mexico?" I think I spent an entire two weeks before our trip Googling everything I could find about Ruidoso because I had never heard of it and didn't want to miss anything! Ruidoso is in the Sierra Blanca Mountain range in New Mexico — and it is exactly as beautiful as it sounds. With hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, skiing in the winter, and really interesting historical sites, there was no way we would run out of things to do. The easiest way to get to Ruidoso is to fly in to one of the closest airports. For us, it was Albuquerque, though El Paso, Texas is another one that isn't far away. It was about a 55-minute direct flight from Denver and then a three-hour drive to Ruidoso, which is southeast of Albuquerque.Read More
In case you missed all our excitement and a ridiculous amount of beach stories on Instagram (if you want to see them still you can find our stories in our highlights under the highlight "travel" HERE) We went to Florida! This was honestly the first time I had been to Florida since I was 12 AND the girls first time ever so it was a huge deal! We spent the weekend exploring Panama City Beach and Jessamyn might ask when we are going back every single day... I am not exaggerating. I got a lot of messages about Panama City Beach and traveling with kids so I thought I would give you a quick recap incase you want to try this trip as well or are looking for a good getaway spot with small children.
Skiing season is coming to an end for this year and I am honestly kind of sad. This as our first real ski season... I mean both Ben and I had been skiing before but this was our first year with season passes and Jessamyn's first time skiing ever. As I documented our skiing adventures one of the main things I as asked again and again was if driving up to Copper Mountain was worth it (That is where we had our season passes) and what to do up there. SO even though ski season is coming to a close I wanted to put together a little 24 hour itinerary so that if you are thinking of going next year (or I suppose getting in one last minute trip this year) and coming from the Denver area you will have an idea of what to do for one day! Ps. We did all of this with small kids but you could totally adjust this and just go by yourself or with friends and have as much or more fun in just 24 hours!Read More
We took Jessamyn skiing for the first time this past weekend and oh my gosh it was amazing... aaaand a lot of work! We are hoping to go every weekend this winter as both Jessamyn and Ben have season passes so it is a good chance for both of them to get in a lot of time skiing. For Jessamyn we were so excited to take her and are really hoping this helps her feel comfortable skiing and maybe even help build a love for being outdoors in winter and a skill set that I honestly still struggle with (and wish I was more comfortable on skis). I am going to be completely honest this first time was pretty rough so I have included a short list of 5 things that we learned and/or that we will do differently next time.Read More
If you missed it at three weeks postpartum we decided we needed a break... Ben was off on paternity leave and so it just made sense to go on a little trip before he went back to work. YES I had just had a baby, yes we were still figuring all of that out BUT it was a completely magical trip. We chose Santa Fe for a couple of different reasons but primarily because neither of us had been there, it was only a 5 hour drive from Denver, and there was a really amazing art experience Ben had been talking about forever that we decided it was time to go see! Rather than tell you about the trip I thought I would just create a list of the top 5 things to do (or that we did there... or near by)!Read More
