Hey! Oh my gosh I am so excited to write this blog post… I want to just be completely transparent this wasn’t something we saw coming, actually this was a spur of the moment decision that has become so beautiful and amazing and I am so excited about it. For anyone who doesn’t know about when we previously converted a school bus into a tiny home you can find all those blog posts HERE and a Youtube tour of that bus HERE. A little over a year ago now we sold that first bus (someone in Hawaii actually bought it and had it shipped out). Since then we have lived in two apartments and now our aframe WHICH we are not getting rid of… I just feel like I need to say that up front the aframe is still our home and also the 5 acres it sits on happens to be the perfect place to park our new bus when we aren’t using it. To full understand why we decided to move back into the bus I need to give a little back story…..

About three months ago we bought a cabin in the mountains. We broke the lease on our apartment, packed up everything we owned, and moved hours away from the city we lived and work in. This cabin is by no means perfect, it definitely has flaws, is probably too small for us... BUT we love every single inch of it and could not be happier with our decision to move. I have been getting so many questions and requests on Instagram to see the interior of the cabin and to know how we live in such a small space SO here is a little photo tour and what we have done with the place so far. We are honestly working on a very limited budget so the cabin is what it is flaws and all. Someday we have big plans to fix a few things and paint but for now this is home and we are so completely in love.

We moved!!! If you follow us on Instagram you have been seeing all our cabin related photos if not... well you have been missing out. We recently purchased a cabin in the mountains of Colorado and are settling in. I have been getting a lot of questions about this unique space and have answered a few of the most commonly asked questions below. We are so excited about this new space and hope you will follow along as we turn it into our forever home.

I didn't think I would be writing this post... actually I hoped I would be writing pieces of it someday but could not have imagined within a few months of moving into the bus we would getting ready to make some more huge changes in our lives. I read a quote this week that to paraphrase basically said not to worry about the next adventure because you are already on one and I found that so applicable to where we are right now. I wasn't going to share any of this with you because there are so many unknowns still but was encouraged by a few friends that this is all a part of the process and something people might be interested in because process is life, and its where we are all at.

So we keep going, we keep moving forward, dreaming of warmer weather and new views. We definitely have faced a few challenges this month but all in all wouldn't change this experience for anything. Bus life is not always beautiful, not always easy, and definitely not glamorous... but it has its beautiful moments and someday when we look back on this I hope we will have a stockpile of beautiful memories and the satisfaction of knowing we tried, we lived this dream for what it was because really that is all you can do.

So thats the bus! If you have any questions please leave them down below. We have several Q & A sessions coming to YOUtube so be sure to subscribe. If there is a product pictured that we didn't mention and you want to know where it came please ask! Also again this post was sponsored by IKEA but all thoughts were my own and we absolutely love everything we included from them in the bus.

Ben built bunk beds that you can see in the above picture, they serve multiple purposes. First a bed for Jessamyn (that she actually hasn't slept in yet.. go figure), and secondly the top bunk serves as Jessamyn's closet and our overflow storage. The bottom bunk is covering the rear wheel and so there isn't much useable storage underneath it. If we end up staying in the bus long enough the top bunk will eventually have to go back to being a bunk for baby number 2 and we will have to revisit our storage options at that time. For now though it makes a great play room and we are working towards her actually sleeping in her own bed at night!

First and rather importantly because seriously who doesn't love a good nights sleep we have the bedroom. We didn't do anything fancy, just a queen size bed in the back of the bus. There is storage underneath the bed with basic lift up wooden planks that are honestly a pain to move now that the mattress is down but it is a great storage spot for items we want with us but may not use all the time.
