Skiing season is coming to an end for this year and I am honestly kind of sad. This as our first real ski season... I mean both Ben and I had been skiing before but this was our first year with season passes and Jessamyn's first time skiing ever. As I documented our skiing adventures one of the main things I as asked again and again was if driving up to Copper Mountain was worth it (That is where we had our season passes) and what to do up there. SO even though ski season is coming to a close I wanted to put together a little 24 hour itinerary so that if you are thinking of going next year (or I suppose getting in one last minute trip this year) and coming from the Denver area you will have an idea of what to do for one day! Ps. We did all of this with small kids but you could totally adjust this and just go by yourself or with friends and have as much or more fun in just 24 hours!

Okay SO if you have been following us on Instagram you have seen the dreamy photos, the excited stories, and the general beauty (hopefully) that is exploring new places. What you haven't seen though is the behind the scenes stuff, the drama, tantrums, blown out diapers, and extreme amounts of throw up that have unfortunately encompassed most of this trip. It started shortly after we left Zion Jessamyn began throwing up every hour on the hour... and of course because she is three refused to let me hold a bag for her to throw up in... so Ben drove and I spent 90% of that day cleaning up Jessamyn and the car, and myself with baby wipes.

Like most things these days this post is late... like two weeks late as our anniversary was actually the 7th BUT late or not I still want to share a few words. We met almost 6 years ago now... (actually almost 12 years ago but that is an entirely different story) We went to a concert together at the Summit Music Hall and then another, and then another... and now here we are. We have owned 2 homes, lived in 3 apartments, and had an innumerable amount of junk cars. In these past 5 years we welcomed two babies and loved the same old dog who is still hanging on despite several false alarms. We have fought, argued, said a million stupid things but also shared a love that for whatever reason (we have both admired we don't know exactly why) stubbornly held on through every single obstacle that has come our way.

I meant to do this every month... I really did but life and babies and just a lack of words have kept me quiet. I wanted to post an update thought more for myself than anyone to share where I am at because we don't talk about the postpartum period enough and because I need to take a moment to reflect and define how I feel. It is so easy to just go go go and then all of a sudden look back and realize you weren't actually feeling or living you were just doing... or maybe surviving and I don't want to do that this time I don't want Ophelia's entire first year of life to just be me in survival mode. So this is just a little update to share where I am at and how things are going... it isn't meant to be a guide or really a definition of motherhood for anyone else just my thoughts and experiences because motherhood can be isolating and lonely and I need to share this.. we all need to share this and stop going at it alone.

It is that time of the year again... and by that I mean time to find gifts and wrap presents! I am kind of an over excited gift giver meaning I like to find something unique, lovely, and most importantly that I think the person I am giving the gift to will actually love. SO this year for a gift guide since we are new parents (again... I think it totally still counts the second time right?) If you missed it at three weeks postpartum we decided we needed a break... Ben was off on paternity leave and so it just made sense to go on a little trip before he went back to work. YES I had just had a baby, yes we were still figuring all of that out BUT it was a completely magical trip. We chose Santa Fe for a couple of different reasons but primarily because neither of us had been there, it was only a 5 hour drive from Denver, and there was a really amazing art experience Ben had been talking about forever that we decided it was time to go see! Rather than tell you about the trip I thought I would just create a list of the top 5 things to do (or that we did there... or near by)!

SO for all you Denver area Mamas here is a list of five fall activities you can do with kids!
