This post is suppose to be about how we gave our photo books from Blurb to our family BUT since we haven’t actually given them yet and the anticipation is killing I figured I would share some no stress tips for last minute holiday shopping with you all. As someone who loves gift giving I generally plan ahead but to be honest I do have a few last minute gifts I need to give this year that I am not ready for. I should also mention the shipping date for photo books from Blurb (I shared all about our process of making ours HERE) has passed BUT that doesn’t mean you couldn’t make a book after the holidays to hold all the memories you are making during this season. Also they have notebooks and ebooks and just the possibilities are endless! Okay but lets get into this what do you do when you have to give a last minute gift? Here are a few of my suggestions….
5 Last Minute No Stress Tips for Holiday Shopping -
Give a gift card: I am kind of torn on this and have mentioned it in other gift guides but sometimes a gift card can be the right way to go. Not only does it allow the receiver to choose their gift there are a lot of more personalized gift cards out there so you could really make it thought out and personal even though it is last minute. This is a great way to give a gift if you don’t have time to get the actual gift you wanted shipped. I have done this when I know someone wants something specific but there is just no way to get it to them in time for whenever the gift exchange is going down.
DO an activity together: This is something Ben and I actually do a lot! And actually this year instead of giving each other a present we are going out and doing something together and having a date. This doesn't just have to be with your significant other though the gift of time and a memory together is one of the best gift you can give.
Make a photo book: On the note of a gift of time it is worth mentioning Blurb the deadline for shipping has passed BUT you can choose to create an ebook with your printed book so I would seriously recommend ordering a book with the ebook included and give the ebook now letting the receiver know the actual hard copy is coming. It shows you care and put some time into their gift while also getting around the annoyance that is trying to get a last minute gift shipped! in case you don’t know what Blurb is… Blurb is an independent, creative book making and self-publishing platform. Blurb has many different paper options you can actually order a swatch kit to see samples of their different paper choices when ordering a book and when you order a swatch kit you will get a promo code to apply the price of the kit toward your book purchase. You can also sell books you create, make notebooks, ebooks, and just do SO many things… I might end up using them for some professional work as well because the options are awesome! I am honestly obsessing over the quality of the books we received and will definitely be gifting these books again. You can find them HERE!
Make something homemade: This could include baking, knitting, crafting…. there are so many other options. Homemade gift giving is my favorite because it allows me to make something so personal for that individual and is just a really great way to again show you care through time. I don’t have a ton of skills as far as this goes but nothing is wrong with buying cookie mix at the store and decorating them for family or the neighbors or finding some other “semi homemade” gift you can do with the skills you have to show you care!
Give Flowers: If you follow me on Instagram at all you know this is my favorite way to go… BUT really nothing says “I care” more than stopping by with flowers. You might not have a super fancy gift but you will have something beautiful and whimsical that shows you care and thought of that other person which at the end of the day is all that matters anyway. My favorite thing to do is give the gift of a cup of tea and flowers together because it just feels ridiculously sweet and would make my day if someone randomly showed up with flowers and tea so I have to hope it would make someone else's too!
Okay so that is my list! SO if you get flowers from me this holiday season I guess it means I forgot you… just kidding but really what do you do for last minute gift giving I would love to know/ I am basically done with my shopping most of my family will be getting personalized photo books from Blurb! We went with the 12 by 12 square and I filled them with photos of the girls from this year. I am actually even keeping one for myself because they are just so well made and Jessamyn has loved looking back through and pointing out all the memories for the year. I can’t want to let her pass them out to my parents and siblings and then read through them together and watch her share those memories with them. If you have any questions or last minute gift suggestions please leave them below!
You can specifically find family photo books HERE though Blurb does have many other products!
