Sponsored by Blurb.
A few months ago I mentioned that I put together a few books for the girls and Ben for when we were apart during the work week. I received so many messages asking for more details and who I used SO this post has been a long time coming. This time though we didn’t create books for each other but for family who don’t live close by this Holiday Season. I try almost every year to give a personalized and homemade gift including something about or a photo of the girls during the year to mark their growth and our memories SO this year I am super excited to give these gifts and to show you what we did! Gift giving is so fun for me and I love being able to create something that holds memories and moments that relatives missed because we live so far away. I should also mention this post is sponsored by Blurb BUT I created these books, I am gifting these books, and I am ridiculously excited to share this with you today and with my family for Christmas.
Everything you need to know about Blurb -
Blurb is an independent, creative book making and self-publishing platform. Which yes means you could also make and sell your own books through their platform which is pretty awesome! (remember that book of moody roads I was joking about making? yeah I could totally make that a reality) Blurb also has so many different paper options you can actually order a swatch kit to see samples of their different paper choices when ordering a book and when you order a swatch kit you will get a promo code to apply the price of the kit toward your book purchase. I think my favorite feature though about Blurb was the different professionally designed photo book templates that allowed me to add my own photos while still following a template and creating something that was me but was also professional and beautiful looking. Also I am just going to include this information now Saturday December 1st is the last date you can order in time for the holidays so if you are considering purchasing for a gift… go now so you don’t miss out!
You can find them HERE!
You can specifically find family photo books HERE though Blurb does have many other products!
Okay and now for all the details and considerations I put into our book. I went with a larger 12 by 12 square because I wanted it to look and feel a bit like a coffee table book. I also went with a matte finish because I like the way it makes my photos look. I primarily stuck to photos of the girls from this year, almost creating a year long memory of everything we did, how they have changed, and all the beautiful experiences we have had. I love giving gifts like this because it allows for family to be a part of our life even though they are far away and is so much nicer than just seeing photos on social media. I really love holding the books in print and seeing the quality and just every single moment and memory we lived this year. I had four copies printed because I will be giving them to multiple relatives, so sorry if you are reading this and are related to me chances are you are getting a photo book! Jessamyn loved helping me create them and spent an entire afternoon reading through the book and pointing out all the moments she remembered from this year.
I forgot to mention but Blurb is awesome in that you use a program called BookWright which helps you publish your book, it literally will organize and give you options to create everything so seamlessly! I am so excited to give these books this holiday season… actually Jessamyn is going to give them but I mean I made them so that counts for something right? You have until Saturday December 1st to order so if your thinking about making a photo book for family or just for yourself and want it in time for the Holidays act now! You can find them HERE! Also I would love to know do you give DIY gifts? and if so what? or what is your favorite thing to give family?
