Okay, On to the next part of the bus! If you missed part one you can find it HERE and stick around because the final part of the tour will be coming soon! To be honest this part of the bus really isn't my favorite, its more like an area that is necessary for holding basically everything but the design itself is pretty basic and more practical than anything. I am hoping that as we grow and get use to living in the bus we can update this area as well to fit our needs and become a bit more cozy and a bit less just practical.
Ben built bunk beds that you can see in the above picture, they serve multiple purposes. First a bed for Jessamyn (that she actually hasn't slept in yet.. go figure), and secondly the top bunk serves as Jessamyn's closet and our overflow storage. The bottom bunk is covering the rear wheel and so there isn't much useable storage underneath it. If we end up staying in the bus long enough the top bunk will eventually have to go back to being a bunk for baby number 2 and we will have to revisit our storage options at that time. For now though it makes a great play room and we are working towards her actually sleeping in her own bed at night!
The other wheel is just covered by a box that also houses our 25 gallon water tank and our electric panel. We don't have hot water right now so the set up it pretty basic but eventually we would like to change that and have hot water for our shower and sink. We had an electrician run our electric for us and I highly recommend that, it was amazing having someone come in and make sure we did all that correctly and set everything up! This side of the bus also holds all of Jessamyn's toys and I think is the perfect size space for a crib once baby number 2 is born,. You guys will have to help me get creative with turning this room into more of a nursery once we get closer!
Lastly in this part of the bus we have our composting toilet! I was a little skeptical at first but absolutely love it! No smell, no mess, just a basic toilet. We still need to build a door or actually hang a canvas curtain over the toilet for privacy but over all its a completely functional little space.
Not pictured is the shower directly across from the toilet. We haven't finished building it yet but there is a horse trough tub and metal plating on the walls. It is still very much a work in progress but we would like to have a working shower someday!
Check back in later this week to see the final installment of this tour!
