Okay so here we are two months later and another bus update! I can't believe it is has been two months and I am so sorry we didn't update before that but here we are now and I have so much to tell you!
First of all we sold the house... okay well not so much sold yet but it is under contract, today is the objection deadline and as long as it appraises we will close in three weeks! What that means for the bus is that we are putting any further construction efforts on hold so that we can pay for the rest of the renovation in cash which will be just amazing and keep with our goal of being debt free at the end of all of this.
Currently we are in the process of moving boxes to a storage unit and will be staying with my family for a month or so while we finish the bus!
Secondly we finished framing in the bus... okay when I say "we" I really me mostly Ben, he has worked so hard on this project and is doing such an amazing job. If you missed my Instagram story a few days ago the bus is all framed in! There will be a bed room, closet, kids room, bath room, shower, and kitchen/living room. I am really loving the way the space is working out... it feels really livable and like we will have a lot of storage and good usable space even with a baby and two big dogs!
After the closing date for the house things will move really quickly! We already have someone lined up to install electric ( I know I said we had already done that but we ended up moving that up just to use that money for other bus related things). Once that is done we will install cabinets and furniture, run plumbing, and then lay down the floors!
We went to IKEA the other day and even though initially we had planned on doing a lot of custom build ins we really felt like there were good options at IKEA that fit our needs and so we are going for it and hopefully it will be functional and beautiful!
I've received a lot of questions about what all will be in the bus and yes there will be a working shower, composting toilet, a real working cook top/oven, sink, and a wood burning stove. We are planning on installing a generator and/or solar at some point but may hold off on that initially depending on what our budget looks like.
The hardest part of the build so far has been the ceiling... we left the original in because it is already sealed and good to go but also because we really loved the color and unique feel having the original rings. The curve though has made framing and building doors... quite the challenge!
So! A few thoughts for you all... Ben really think we should start a Youtube channel to better document the finishing of the bus and to share our travels after we are in! I am not 100% sold on this (being an introvert) but did set a channel up so if you think it is a good idea please go subscribe and if we get enough subscribers I will post some videos!
Also I am in desperate need of some interior decorating ideas! I would love to keep the bus fresh and have a beautiful but bohemian style and am not even sure where to start looking for art or decor for the inside... if you have any suggestions I am all ears! Comment below!
That is all for this update! There will probably be several updates in October and then we hope to be in so... its coming quick guys, its coming quick!
