Okay so it has been a while since we have gone truly "wandering" but to be fair the bus has been taking up a lot of our time and finances... ps. currently need our house to sell to really be able to finish the bus so fingers crossed that happens quickly!
A few years ago for my husbands birthday I surprised him with a trip to Winter park! I didn't know anything about this town I mostly picked it because I found a cute airbnb to stay in and thought it would be fun to kidnap him... well now three years later we are going back with the tiny to recreate that trip!
First and probably most importantly what I didn't know the weekend I booked this trip a few years back was the the Winter Park Beer Festival was happening that weekend AND that it was basically one of the most amazing beer festivals around. We were so impressed with the beer selection and just general vibe of the festival we came back this year! It did not disappoint and Jessamyn even had a good time... though admittedly did not have any beer so she may have missed a huge piece of the festival... even still it was such a fun time!
A few of our favorites....
This time around it was actually really hard to find lodging, we had a few friends coming with us and finding a place big enough for all of us but still at a reasonable price point was tricky. We ended up at the Beaver Village Condos and oh I was so impressed! The Condos were within walking distance of both the beer festival and downtown Winter Park, which was super convenient. They also were really beautifully furnished and had a balcony which I think is always lovely. Jessamyn had the best time jumping on the bed and basically acting like a rock and roll star or something...
We mostly wandered around the beer festival but did eat dinner at a Mexican restaurant with amazing margaritas... well okay really big margaritas maybe not so much amazing, AND we had breakfast at a cute little coffee roaster before heading out of town.
We tried to keep the trip as relaxed as possible knowing it was just a weekend and that we didn't necessarily need to squeeze as much in as possible but more relax and have some fun!
Over all this was such fun trip, and so beautiful. I feel like the mountains alone made this trip so worth it. We drove in during a rain storm and it was so foggy and lovely I just wanted to curl up by a fire place and soak it all in.
Jessamyn had the best time pointing out all the dogs... because wow there are a lot in mountain towns and just exploring nature. She was all about bringing me wild flowers and seriously had one in hand almost every moment of this trip!
I feel like even though a beer festival is not necessarily a baby centered event it was so fun to take her! This one was done really well and Winter Park is so laid back and relaxed that having a 20 month old along was no trouble at all. In fact I honestly think it is better to take kids to events and things like beer festivals in mountain towns because it provides them with new experiences and allows us to be together as a family.
SO yeah, that was it... a beautiful, mountain filled, low key weekend. Oh! If you have any suggestions as to place we should go or things to do please feel free to comment! As we move further along with the bus I am starting to make a list of all the places and things I want us to explore!
