Portland while Pregnant

Road Trip part three! If you missed the first two installments you can find Montana HERE and Seattle HERE. We planned the trip around Ben having to work while we were in Seattle but Portland... Portland was just for fun and oh my goodness did we have the best time ever. I titled this blog "Portland while pregnant" because honestly traveling while pregnant is a very different experience and for me involves a bit more intentional planning to make sure that I don't overdo it and also have a good time!

It is Okay to be Shallow.. I Promise.

I wanted to take a moment to say it's okay to be shallow. It's okay to be human and to have thoughts that maybe aren't incredibly deep or what others might consider valid... it is okay. When I think about living in a world where I can't be shallow the word "suppressed" comes to mind and honestly I don't want to live a suppressed life... I don't want my daughters to grow up seeing me only sharing the deep things... I want them to see it all. The good, the bad, the incredibly vain, and dumb... the whatever. I want them to know it is okay to have shallow thoughts (which ps. I am not even sure how to define shallow.. when I think about shallow it brings up skipping rocks on a pond... you have to start somewhere and the shallow ripples tend to lead to deeper things right?)

Seattle With a Toddler!

Seattle! A city I have so much love for and actually we are trying to move to (in case you missed that bit). We spent a week of our road trip in Seattle exploring, wandering, and Ben spent a bit of that time working towards being able to transfer with his job. We come to Seattle yearly so this was not our first time bringing Jessamyn but last time she was significantly smaller and less mobile, which definitely made this trip a whole new experience!

The Redwoods

When I was little my mom always talked about driving through the Redwoods. She described it like the trees would be massive and magical and I always imagined it that way in my head. We never made it on that trip and so needless to say driving through the redwoods has always been at the top of my list of things I needed to do in life! This was actually the third installment of our trip (Seattle blog coming soon) We drove from Montana to Seattle and then Seattle to Crescent City California which is where this blog post picks up!

Montana

We stayed at the Gallatin River Lodge and I will just tell you now we are already planning a trip back. The lodge is a little bit out of the immediate downtown area but honestly that only added to its charm and the view of the mountains was ridiculously gorgeous! We pulled up and were immediately met by some amazing people who gave us a tour and showed us to our room. The lodge as a beautiful earthy feel to it while at the same time a fresh quiet openness that was really inviting and peaceful after a long day of driving.
